
Kota Kinabalu: A paperless Filipino labourer was sentenced to seven months jail on Monday for using someone else’s Mykad as his identification document.
Haadan Karim, 34, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to having one Jacqoldo Md Azad’s identity card on Jan 15, this year, at 7.42pm, at mile 9, Jalan Tuaran, Manggatal.
AdvertisementThe offence under Section 25(1)(o) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 (Amended 2007), carries a jail term of up to three years or fine of up to RM20,000 or both on conviction.
The prosecution in tendering the facts, informed the court that Haadan, who was driving a Proton Saga at the said place, was stopped by police beat, and produced the said MyKad as his identification document.

Haadan confessed to having obtained the said document from an unknown man.

In another case, a 28-year-old man was charged with molesting a woman.
Mohammad Teo Chun Loong pleaded not guilty to committing the offence against a 28-year-old woman on Jan 27, this year, between 12.01am and 2am, in front of a rented room in Manggatal.
The charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 10 years or with a fine or whipping or with any two of such punishments, on conviction.
The complainant, who was present in court informed the court of her wish to retract her previous police report against the accused.
The prosecution applied for another mention date pending instruction from the DPP’s office.
The court set March 28 for mention and released the accused on a bail of RM1,500.
