
SANDAKAN: A Filipino was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment by the Sessions Court here on Thursday for carrying a dangerous weapon in public.
Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal handed down the sentence after Abdul Atar Jakal, 27, pleaded guilty to possessing a 70-centimetre machete without a sheath at ABX Bandar Indah on 28 April.
The court was told that police received a report of a man acting aggressively with a machete in the area around 11am that day.

He was charged under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 and will be referred to Immigration upon completing his sentence.
