Filipino musician Gabba joins Singapore’s Baybeats Festival

Filipino multi-instrumentalist Gabba will perform at Singapore’s Baybeats Festival this September, joining the lineup for the festival’s 25th anniversary edition.

The musician, known for the song “Pockets,” is among the artists scheduled to perform alongside Filipino band Typecast, Singapore’s Disco Hue, Indonesia’s The Sigit, South Korea’s Yangbans and other homegrown and regional acts.

Singapore’s free alternative music festival will run from Sept. 3 to 6 at the Esplanade. Established as one of the country’s longest-running alternative music festivals, Baybeats Festival has previously featured Filipino acts including Sandwich, Pedicab and Urbandub.

The appearance will mark Gabba’s first performance in Singapore since “Music Day Out” in 2024.

“Getting to play Baybeats for the first time, especially during its 25th anniversary, feels incredibly special,” Gabba said. “It’s a festival I’ve looked up to for a long time because of how it brings together artists from all over the region. It’s such an important platform, and it’s amazing to finally be part of it.”

Reflecting on his previous performance in Singapore, Gabba said the experience remains one of his favorite live shows.

“That show is still one of my favorite live shows we’ve performed to date. The energy of that room that night was amazing and everyone was so welcoming and inspiring, and I’m looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new people, and discovering even more incredible artists from around the region,” he said. “I can’t wait to share our music and experience Baybeats from both sides, as a performer and as a fan.”

Gabba’s upcoming appearance at Baybeats Festival follows the release of “fall,” his 2025 collaboration with Singaporean singer-songwriter and producer Alicia DC.
