SEN. Bong Go reiterated that the health and welfare of Filipinos are among his priorities as he joined the 55th founding anniversary celebration of the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) in Mati City on Friday.
The celebration recognized the provincial hospital’s 55 years of service to patients across Davao Oriental, highlighting the addition of equipment to strengthen its health care operations and improve the delivery of medical services.
During the event, Go witnessed the ceremonial turnover and blessing of a digital X-ray and CCTV system donated by the Okada Foundation.
He congratulated the DOPMC administration, health care workers, support personnel, and other members of the hospital community for their continued service to patients throughout the province.
He also thanked the Okada Foundation for providing the medical equipment and acknowledged the provincial and local officials, hospital personnel, health care workers, and partner institutions.
Go particularly recognized Davao Oriental Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang, Vice Gov. Ma. Glenda Monette Gayta, Board Member Don Montojo, Mati City Mayor Joel Mayo Almario, San Isidro Mayor Ma. Angelica Go-Dayanghirang, Lupon Mayor Santos Alonzo Jr., Lupon Vice Mayor Atty. Chrence Go, and other local officials for supporting initiatives intended to improve health care services across the province.
“Health is wealth. The health of every Filipino is very important to me. If you have a patient who needs surgery in Davao or Tagum, inform the Vice Mayor, any councilor, Board Member Don, or Board Member Jimboy. We will help you,” Go said.
Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center is also home to the province’s Malasakit Center, which was launched on Oct. 9, 2020, as the 86th Malasakit Center in the country.
The Malasakit Center serves as a one-stop shop that brings together concerned government agencies to help qualified patients access available medical and financial assistance.
“There are Malasakit Centers in Mati, Tagum, Davao, and throughout the Philippines. You also have two Super Health Centers here — in Calapagan and Bagumbayan — where you can get medical checkups and consultations, along with access to PhilHealth’s Yakap program,” Go said. “These are among the projects that I championed. There are also cancer, heart, and kidney centers in Davao, and I was the principal sponsor of these initiatives,” he added.
