MOTORISTS in Malaysia are being urged to seize the final opportunity to settle their outstanding police traffic summonses at a 70 per cent discount, as the promotion ends today.

In a Facebook post, the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department reminded the public that the offer provides a safe, fast, and convenient way to clear summonses.

“The last day for the 70% discount on police traffic summonses is today (Dec 30). Do not miss this golden opportunity to clear your summonses,” the post stated.

The discount initiative, which began on 1 November, was announced by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on 22 December as a final measure ahead of the rollout of a new traffic summons payment system in 2026.

Authorities estimate that unpaid traffic summonses in Malaysia currently amount to RM6.6 billion, highlighting the scale of outstanding obligations among motorists nationwide.

The discount scheme is intended to provide a final chance for individuals to settle these debts before the implementation of the updated system.

Motorists are advised to act immediately to benefit from the substantial reduction and avoid the full repayment obligations once the new system comes into effect. - December 30, 2025
