DIGIPLUS Interactive Corp. has appointed corporate finance veteran Ping Chen as president as the digital entertainment firm pushes its next phase of expansion.
The company said Chen was elected president during the board’s organizational meeting following DigiPlus’ annual stockholders’ meeting on Friday. He succeeds Andy Tsui, who stepped down after serving for more than four years.
DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco said Chen’s appointment came at a crucial stage in the company’s growth.
“His extensive global experience, strategic insight and proven leadership capabilities position him well to help steer the company through our next phase of expansion and long-term value creation,” Tanco said.
Before joining DigiPlus, Chen served as chief financial officer, chief investment officer and executive committee member of one of Asia’s largest publicly listed technology and services conglomerates.
He also spent two decades in global investment banking in Hong Kong and London, holding senior positions at Moelis & Company, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citi and Morgan Stanley.
The company said Chen was bringing in more than 22 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, strategic investments and executive leadership across Asian and global markets.
“It is a privilege to join DigiPlus and to push for its next phase of expansion,” Chen said.
“My mandate is to help design our long-term strategy and execute, also to improve our financial performance and operational efficiency, to deliver higher values to investors and achieve sustainable growth,” he added.
Chen holds a Master of Philosophy in Financial Engineering from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Management Studies from Imperial College London.
DigiPlus operates digital entertainment platforms BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone.
Shares of the company slipped P0.50, or 4.55 percent, to close at P10.50 each on Friday.
