Kota Kinabalu: While making the Unduk Ngadau a national beauty pageant is praiseworthy, the various KDCA branches outside Sabah said financial considerations need to be addressed.
They said organising the Harvest Festival pageant in the respective states involve time and money so that the selected representatives are able to compete at the State-level Harvest Festival at KDCA in Penampang (May 31).
Ivy Lojitan, coordinator for KDCA Putrajaya, said although there is an allocation for every branch, it is not sufficient to cover expenses such as the flight tickets, which is the costliest, accommodation, food and transportation, among others.
The flight and other expenses per contestant is RM4,000 or more.
