For Haridath, a man who narrowly escaped a sinkhole that tragically claimed the life of a tourist in Kuala Lumpur, a harrowing brush with danger became a defining moment in his spiritual journey.
Three days after the incident, Haridath—previously known as Kalidass—converted to Islam, reciting the Shahadah and embracing a new faith.
The Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (Abim) confirmed that he had long wanted to convert but had delayed his decision. Surviving the sinkhole on August 23 served as a powerful catalyst for him to take the final step toward a life of faith.
