A major fire has destroyed a vehicle workshop, recycling factory and paint warehouse in Klang, with firefighters battling the blaze without a nearby water source.

KLANG: A major fire broke out at three industrial premises in Kampung Perepat, Klang this afternoon, completely destroying two of the buildings.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at about 1.44 pm.

Firefighters from six stations were immediately deployed and arrived at the scene approximately ten minutes later.

The blaze involved three separate Class C factory buildings on the same site.

Ahmad Mukhlis stated that the first lot, a vehicle workshop, was approximately 50% destroyed.

He confirmed that the other two premises, a recycling factory and a paint storage warehouse, were completely destroyed by the fire.

No casualties have been reported from the incident so far.

The assistant director explained that bringing the fire under control has been challenging due to the absence of an open water source at the location.

A total of 31 officers and personnel from the Kapar, Klang Utara, Klang Selatan, Andalas, Port Klang and Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue stations are involved in the ongoing operation.
