Kota Kinabalu: The Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL) personnel recently completed a basic fire-fighting course conducted by the Fire and Rescue Department of Lahad Datu.
The purpose of this training was to equip the lodge’s personnel with rescue knowledge in the event of a fire or emergency, aligning with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1994 (OSHA).
The training course was of utmost importance, given the unique circumstances of the lodge’s location. Nestled in the heart of a pristine forest, it adds a layer of complexity and significance to the fire and rescue training.
The lodge’s proximity to a natural environment filled with lush vegetation, unique wildlife, and potentially challenging accessibility for emergency services underscores the necessity of being well-prepared.
In such a delicate ecosystem, the risk of fire can have devastating consequences, not only for the lodge but also for the surrounding environment.
Therefore, specialised training is essential not only for safeguarding the safety of the lodge’s personnel but also for preserving the ecological integrity of the surrounding rainforest.
This commitment to safety and environmental stewardship sets a commendable example for the hospitality industry and reinforces the lodge’s dedication to excellence and sustainability.
