Kota Kinabalu: A fire broke out at the Kayu Madang landfill in Telipok early Tuesday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) received the emergency call at 12.15am and arrived at the scene at 12.36am after travelling 19km.
No casualties were reported.
Operations Commander Norkizan Durudin said the fire involved a tyre dump estimated to cover about three acres.
A total of 30 personnel from BBP Tuaran, BBP Kota Kinabalu, BBP Lintas and the Communication Unit, with assistance from DBKK, carried out extinguishing operations and fire break works to prevent the blaze from spreading.
