
A fire safety training session and mock drill for the staff working in the Judicial Court Complex, Patti, was conducted on Sunday with the objective of creating awareness among officers, officials, and staff members regarding fire prevention measures and enabling them to effectively deal with emergency situations related to fire incidents.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Kanwaljeet Singh Bajwa, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Tarn Taran, in association with the District Legal Services Authority, Tarn Taran. Members of the Bar Association, Patti, under the chairmanship of Kawaljit Singh Bath, President, also joined the programme and actively participated in the training session.
On the occasion, staff members as well as members of the Bar Association were imparted practical training regarding the proper use and operation of different types of fire extinguishers and were made aware of precautionary measures to be adopted during fire emergencies. The mock drill and practical training session were conducted by Satish Salwan from the District Fire Department along with Satpal Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Vishavdeep Singh, Sukhdev Singh, and Komaljit Singh.
During the session, detailed information was provided regarding different categories of fire and the methods required for controlling such incidents. It was explained that Class A fire includes fires caused by ordinary combustible materials such as wood, paper, cloth, rubber, and plastics; Class B fire relates to flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel, oil, paints, and chemicals; Class C fire involves inflammable gases, including LPG and propane gas; Class D fire pertains to combustible metals such as magnesium, sodium, and aluminium powder; whereas Class E fire relates to electrical equipment, electrical appliances, and short-circuit-related incidents.
The officials explained the different methods and safety protocols required for controlling each category of fire and also demonstrated the practical use of foam fire extinguishers, CO2 fire extinguishers and dry chemical powder fire extinguishers in different emergency situations. The participants were also sensitised regarding immediate evacuation procedures, emergency response techniques, and the importance of timely action during fire incidents.
