A fire safety training session and mock drill for staff at the Judicial Court Complex, Tarn Taran, was conducted on Tuesday with the objective of raising awareness among officials and employees about fire prevention measures, and equipping them to deal effectively with emergency situations arising from fire incidents.

The programme was organised under the guidance of Tarn Taran District and Sessions Judge Kanwaljeet Singh Bajwa, in association with the District Legal Services Authority, Tarn Taran. Members of the Bar Association, Tarn Taran, under the chairmanship of its president, PS Dhillon, also participated in the programme.

During the exercise, participants were given practical training over the proper use of different types of fire extinguishers, and were sensitised to precautionary measures to be adopted during fire emergencies. The mock drill and practical training session was conducted by Satish Salwan from the district Fire Department, along with Ramandeep Singh, Amandeep Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Danish Chauhan, Jagdeep Singh and Yadavinder Singh.

Participants were briefed in detail on the different categories of fire, and the methods required to control each type of incident. It was explained that Class A fires involve ordinary combustible materials such as wood, paper, cloth, rubber and plastics; Class B fires relate to flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel, oil, paints and chemicals; Class C fires involve flammable gases including LPG and propane; Class D fires pertain to combustible metals such as magnesium, sodium and aluminium powder; while Class E fires relate to electrical equipment, appliances and short-circuit incidents.

Officials demonstrated appropriate methods and safety protocols for dealing with each category of fire, including the practical use of foam, CO2 and dry chemical powder fire extinguishers in different emergency situations.

Participants were also sensitised on immediate evacuation procedures, emergency response techniques, and the importance of prompt action during fire incidents.
