Firefighters successfully airlifted a pregnant woman from Kampung Abuan after heavy rain caused a bridge collapse

FIREFIGHTERS are true heroes. This was proven recently when the Fire and Rescue Department helped to transfer a woman to a hospital from Kampung Abuan, Beluran, Sabah where vehicles, including ambulances, could not access the area due to a damaged bridge.

Heavy rain on January 29 caused the connecting bridge to collapse.

The pregnant woman required medical treatment, and therefore Klinik Kesihatan Abuan, in cooperation with Beluran Hospital, decided to transfer her to the hospital.

Repair works on the bridge were expected to take a long time, and this was where the firefighters stepped in to provide assistance.

They took immediate action and successfully transported the pregnant woman by helicopter.

The Beluran district health office, in a Facebook post, praised the Fire and Rescue Department of Paitan and all others involved for their commitment to ensuring that health services reach the public, no matter the challenges or circumstances.
