PUTRAJAYA: Firefighters successfully contained a forest fire on a hillside near the Putrajaya Toll Plaza along the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway (MEX) this evening.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) deployed 21 personnel from the Seri Kembangan station, assisted by the Cyberjaya station, after receiving an emergency call at 4.12 pm.

Operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Fadlee Kamaruddin reported that the blaze involved an estimated 0.8 hectares of hillside forest area.

Firefighting efforts utilised two 200-foot hose lines with engine pumps and firebeaters, according to JBPM Operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar.

Ahmad Mukhlis confirmed that no casualties or structures were involved in the incident.

Mohd Fadlee stated that swift action by the firefighters had managed to contain the blaze from spreading further, particularly towards nearby residential areas.
