A local fireman, Kripal Singh was seriously injured after being ambushed by three unidentified motorcyclists near Sahni village on Thursday morning. Singh, a resident of Rampur Khalian village, was commuting to his office in Phagwara when the assailants rammed their bike into his vehicle near the Baba Mangu Shah shrine and physically assaulted him.

Currently stable at the Civil Hospital, Singh alleged that the attack was linked to his year-long crusade against illegal encroachments on government land in his village. Despite alerting the police about previous threats, Singh claimed his rivals finally acted on their warnings. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident based on the victim’s statement.
