Firefighters and civil defence personnel carried a woman’s body four kilometres along railway tracks in Gua Musang after floods cut off access to her village

GUA MUSANG: Firefighters had to carry the body of a woman for approximately four kilometres (km) along the railway tracks after the only road to Kampung Serian Batu 11 here was flooded following heavy rain last night.

Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief Senior Assistant Fire Officer Muhammad Azrul Izzham Zulkifli said the operation involved four firemen with the assistance of four members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM).

He said the team had to walk two kilometres to enter the village and another two kilometres to carry the woman’s body out after finding the road could not be traversed by a four-wheel drive vehicle.

He said his department received a report about the incident at around 8.30 am, involving a woman in her 50s who is believed to have died of a heart attack.

“Upon arriving at the location, we found that the only way to retrieve the victim’s body was to walk along the railway tracks,” he said when contacted today.

Muhammad Azrul Izzham also said the villagers also helped carry the victim’s body in turns throughout the journey out.

He added that the woman’s body was then taken to Klinik Bertam before her death was confirmed by health personnel.
