PETALING JAYA: Firemen rescued a teenage girl stuck for two days in a mangrove swamp under the Penang Bridge.

Bernama reported that the teenager had reportedly fallen off the Penang Bridge on Thursday and swam towards a building with a blue roof, before getting stuck on a mangrove tree in the muddy area near the Penang Port Sdn Bhd port.

For two days, the 17-year-old had been trying to attract the attention of passing boats by waving and shouting, but no one noticed.

Penang fire and rescue department senior operations commander Faris Izwan Ahmad Fadzilah said the girl’s desperate waving caught the eye of a port fire department worker and she was rescued at 9am today.
