JPWPKL vows firm action against all parties involved in a viral bullying incident at a Kuala Lumpur school, including police reports and counselling
KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Education Department (JPWPKL) will take firm action against all parties involved in a bullying incident that recently went viral on social media, in accordance with existing regulations and guidelines.
The department said it viewed the incident seriously and expressed regret over the misconduct involving students at a school in the capital.
It said the school, under the supervision of JPWPKL and the Keramat District Education Office (PPD), had taken immediate action, including contacting the parents and guardians of the students involved, conducting a comprehensive internal investigation, and lodging a police report.
“The students involved have also been referred for counselling and guidance sessions,” it said in a statement.
It added that JPWPKL has drawn up an intervention plan to address the matter in a comprehensive and targeted manner, and will also hold engagement sessions with the parents involved.
“The public is also reminded not to circulate any content on social media that could reveal the identity of students, particularly minors, in order to protect their welfare and rights,” it said.
The department said it remains committed to addressing bullying in a holistic manner to ensure that all educational institutions remain safe, conducive and harmonious for students, teachers and the school community.
