Here’s all you need to know about the 2025 Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection, releasing globally starting 3 January 2025.
Here we go! This is sure to get fashion enthusiasts all across the world excited. The all-new Louis Vuitton x Murakami is set to drop in three phases throughout 2025 — with Drop 1 releasing on 3 January. First introduced by Marc Jacobs, the Maison’s then Artistic Director, this year marks the 20th anniversary of Louis Vuitton’s inaugural collaboration with artist Takashi Murakami.
Their partnership defined the era — seeing the Monogram pattern reimagined for the very first time. This re-edition collection is a continuation of that special moment in fashion and pop culture history; seen on over 200 of Louis Vuitton’s designs. The Murakami treatment will be seen on the likes of fragrances, small leather goods, bags, accessories and more.
The savoir-faire and craftsmanship that Louis Vuitton have always been renowned for are now shaped by technological advances. What that means is that Murakami’s motifs and characters can now appear even more precise — with more vivid colours. Just like their first ever partnership, this re-edition ensemble is created to transcend generations with timeless designs that will be recognised anywhere and everywhere.
Global Brand Ambassador Zendaya stars in the campaign featuring the collection. Photographed by Inèz & Vinoodh for Louis Vuitton, Zendaya can be seen alongside Superflat and Superflat Panda characters as well as Superflat Garden floral motifs in multi-layered collages. The actress poses with the likes of Bandeau silk scarves, Monogram Mules, Capucines Mini, OnTheGo and All In BB — all part of the re-edition collection.
To celebrate the launch of the all-new Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection, the Maison will be showcasing in-store activations, pop-ups and window displays at its boutiques throughout the globe. There will be three drops in 2025, with Drop 1 and Drop 2 slated for 3 January and 21 March (focusing on the Cherry Blossom pattern) respectively. The date for the final drop is yet to be announced so stay tuned!
What to look out for?
The Louis Vuitton x Murakami re-edition collection comprises the Multicolore Monogram, Superflat Panda and Superflat Garden. The Multicolore Monogram, consisting of 33 colours for its interlocking LV and flower patterns, will be available on the likes of the Alma BB, the Nano Diane, the Speedy 25 and the Dauphine Soft. These will be applied on a white background.
As for the black background, you can look forward to the Multicolore Monogram on the likes of sneakers, sunglasses, the Nano Speedy and the OnTheGo among others. There’s also the Superflat Panda character which can be spotted on the likes of a Mini Square Trunk, Keepall 45 and Couv Passeport. Last but definitely not least is the Superflat Garden — applied to specific perfume bottles.
