The Civil Hospital in Shahpur on Sunday achieved a milestone with the successful completion of its first-ever surgical procedure, ushering in a new chapter in healthcare services for the region. The operation was performed on a 65-year-old hypertensive patient suffering from a left inguinal hernia and was completed without any complications. The surgery was conducted by a medical team comprising anaesthetist Dr Divya Chaudhry and surgeon Dr Shallabh, with support from staff nurses Priyanka and Asha. Talking to The Tribune, Dr Kavita Thakur, Shahpur BMO, said the surgery reflected the growing capabilities and preparedness of Civil Hospital to deliver advanced medical care locally.

Deputy chief whip and Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania congratulated the doctors, nursing staff and hospital administration on the landmark achievement and described it as a proud moment for the institution.Pathania said equipping the hospital in Shhapur with modern facilities had remained a priority for the government and the achievement reflected on the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare accessibility in the region. She highlighted that new hospital buildings, modern operation theatres, advanced diagnostic equipment, including a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, and the nearly-complete dialysis unit would further enhance patient care.
