During the launch of Samsung’s supersized TVs partnered with Dolby Atmos, we are given a chance to experience different settings of the system alongside the dedicated features designed for the environment.
First, we have the living room setup featuring the Neo QLED QN90F and its massive 115-inch screen estate made for home cinema use. Of course, we are given various content such as movies, dramas, documentaries, and more, to find out the various differences.
Just to start, here’s how thick this giant is – Just a thumb’s worth. A TV of this size. Mind-boggling indeed.
With TVs of this scale, the problem wouldn’t be on the device itself, but instead, the content would have much more weight in this. Luckily, platforms like Netflix and HBO Max do offer 4K content, and then again, this is also dependent on whether they offer it, and what tier your account is currently subscribed.
On the other hand, content without 4K option will result in smudged visuals due to the AI upscaling done by the processor of the TV, so this might make things worse, especially in fast-moving scenes.
But there’s one thing that is unmistakably good is the level of brightness control thanks to the Quantum Dot technology, where scenes containing elements of white and black blended together do not result in backlit leaking or ghosting issues. Now that’s what a premium TV should uphold.
And there’s the latest remote control that runs without your conventional batteries, because it is charged either through USB, via the solar panel on the back, or even through the 2.4GHz WiFi, for an endless streak of power.
Together with the setup is the Q990F soundbar that comes with a compact subwoofer and two additional speakers on the back for a complete audio solution that wraps around you. Don’t let their size fool you – it’s all in contrast to the enormous TV.
Next, we are in the gaming room, where we were showcased the S95F OLED model that comes with a 165Hz refresh rate for gamers, where VRR 120Hz is also supported for the latest consoles like Xbox Series X and PS5, alongside NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium certification.
The goodness of OLED panels is all in the true blacks, no doubt. Coupled with the anti-glare coating (all models in this post have this, by the way), one does not need to worry about any light source ruining your attention, be it sunlight, light bulbs, or even flashlights.
You can also find helper features like Virtual Aim Point for some “hardware advantage” in your shooters, as well as Mini-Map Zoom In, so that you can finally take note of what’s happening in your games.
The TV will also adjust various screen settings, either automatically or manually selected by the user from a list of various genres.
Oh yes, OLED is one of Samsung’s best, and all you need to know is the thickness – thinner than my thumb.
The soundbar for this combo is the QS700F, which is designed to be the “smartest” guy in this generation – its multi-way firing speakers are combined with an innate sensor that could detect its orientation, thus adjusting the direction of the audio output.
This way, the user will have complete freedom on whether to put it in front of the TV or place it in some other way.
Lastly, we are in the art room looking at the new The Frame Pro, utilizing the latest iteration of matte display for an even closer imitation of real-life canvas texture. Although the “frame” of the TV seems the thickest, it is actually magnetically attached, and the TV is almost as thin as the others.
In terms of artistic aspect, they are doubling down on the use of generative AI, where users now have an additional choice of using live-generated visuals based on some prompts and tags that can be chosen, or just hit random on everything for the real RNG game.
Despite being marketed as an art-focused display, The Frame Pro is also being properly integrated into the Samsung ecosystem, such as enabling Samsung Food to recommend a daily menu for a healthy lifestyle, or act as the dashboard for displaying info during a workout, used together with the Galaxy Ring or Galaxy Watch peripherals.
What makes it special is the wireless streaming hub where all input devices can be connected to this box, then it will be streamed with low latency towards the TV, making your main setup cable-free, clean, and just – art itself.
The soundbar paired with The Frame Pro is the S801D, coming in whit,e and is made to look good and slick while packing as much power as possible. Of course, it wouldn’t be as “oomph” as the two before it, but if used in the optimal amount of space, it’ll still work.
Oh, you also have the same controller as before, this time also in white.
All in all, Samsung’s collaboration with Dolby Atmos not only brings Q-Symphony for maximum harmonized output, but also with the Wireless Dolby Atmos implementation for a simple, wire-free, immersive audio for next-level entertainment.
