MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang saw the exchanges between First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano at a dinner reception hosted by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) as "friendly talks" with no politics involved.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement after Cayetano approached Araneta-Marcos for a brief chat during the business event.
"Because of the kindness of our first lady, normally it's just friendly talks, exchange of pleasantries...but there's no politics involved," Castro said during a press conference.
The interaction comes after Cayetano labeled the bloc of Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, who was elected Senate president pro tempore and named acting Senate president, as the "Senate of Malacañang."
