LABUAN: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) apprehended two foreign nationals on Jan 17 on suspicion of engaging in fish bombing activities near Pulau Tiga.
The operation was conducted in collaboration with Sabah Parks, in response to information regarding such practices around the island.
Labuan MMEA Director Captain Izwanhadi Idros said the joint operation took place one nautical mile south of Pulau Tiga at 10.30pm.
“Upon checking, our teams discovered various species of fish inside the boat and three bottles of explosives containing ammonium nitrate,” he said, Friday.

Izwanhadi said the suspects had no valid travel document, adding that the vessel and catch were subsequently escorted to the MMEA jetty for further investigations.
“The duo will be handed over to the Immigration Department for further action,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 26(1)(c) of the Fisheries Act 1985 and Section 6(1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
