Fishermen recover ‘iPhone and perfume’ haul from ship sunk in Strait of Hormuz

Scores of cargo goods, iPhones and luxury perfumes reportedly among them, have been recovered by locals after a shipping container was sunk in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Singapore-flagged GFS Pride was sunk on Wednesday (October 14) after being hit by a projectile according to maritime authorities, with Iranian state media reporting Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claims it had been sunk by a naval mine.

Footage circulating social media shortly after the incident shows skiffs congregating near floating shipping containers, with hundreds of pieces of small cargo scattered across the water.

In one video, a man is heard saying “we heard a container ship sank, so we’re going to collect iPhones and perfume,” report The Telegraph.
