LABUAN: The Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) seized a local fishing boat along near Tanjung Nosong Island waters on Sunday for fishing with unauthorised equipment.

Six crew members were also detained.

Labuan Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Captain Nudin Jusoh, said they uncovered homemade spear gun alongside several other prohibited equipment during routine inspections at 9.40am on Sunday.

“The boat in question had violated the valid license conditions of the Fisheries Act 1985.

The boat and crew together with the fishing equipment were taken to the MMEA Jetty and handed over to the Investigating Officer for further action.
