FIVE men have been arrested in connection with the death of a security guard who was fatally attacked with a sharp weapon during a brawl in a shoplot area in Semenyih early Monday morning.
Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, said the incident followed a disagreement between the 38-year-old victim and a 37-year-old local lorry driver, which occurred while they were drinking together with four others.
"The initial argument took place at a field in a residential area in Semenyih, during which the lorry driver suffered a finger injury from a sharp weapon. All five individuals involved then left the scene," he said in a statement.
At approximately 4.30am, the lorry driver and his companions, dissatisfied with the earlier altercation, went to the security guard’s residence located in a row of shop houses nearby.
"One of the suspects attacked the security guard with a sharp object, causing serious injuries to the victim’s arms and body," Naazron said.
The victim was rushed to hospital by his friends but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. A post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted at the Kajang Hospital Forensic Unit to determine the cause of death.
All five suspects, aged between 31 and 37, were detained along with several items believed to be related to the incident. Police will apply for a remand order as investigations continue under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Initial investigations revealed that four of the suspects have prior criminal and drug-related records. The deceased security guard also had seven previous criminal offences on record.
Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact Investigating Officer ASP Ong Eng Yew at 012-6966849 or report to the nearest police station. - September 16, 2025
