
SHAH ALAM, May 31 - Police have arrested five men for a fight, a video of which went viral on social media, near Flat Seri Perantau in Port Klang on Friday.
Klang Selatan district police chief Lim Jit Huey said the South Klang district police headquarters (IPD) received a police report about the incident at about 4pm.
Lim said South Klang police apprehended five locals aged between 18 and 47.
“The remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for all detainees has been granted by a Klang magistrate for four days from May 31 to June 3 to assist in the investigation.
“The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code and, if convicted, the offense is punishable by a maximum prison sentence of five years, a fine, or both,” he added.
Lim advised the public not to make any speculations or spread unverified information on social media that could cause public anxiety and disrupt the investigation.
“Members of the public who have any information related to this incident are requested to step forward and channel it directly to the South Klang IPD or their nearest police station to assist with the investigation,” he said.
Previously, a video went viral on social media showing a fight with several people brandishing weapons, believed to have taken place at Flat Seri Perantau.
