Five districts in Selangor hit by floods

FIVE districts in Selangor were hit by floods this morning following continuous rain that started at 1 am.

Director of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Selangor, Ghazali Abd Rahman, said the affected districts are Petaling, Klang, Sepang, Hulu Langat, and Gombak.

"For Petaling, the affected areas are Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Baru HICOM, Kampung Seri Aman, Kampung Padang Jawa, and the motorcycle lane on the Federal Road (Shah Alam).

"In Klang, flash floods affected Bukit Payung; Taman Daya, Meru; Pekan Meru, Taman Mutiara, and Taman Sri Muda.

"In Sepang, it involves Kampung Abu Bakar Baginda, Sungai Merab, and Desa Vila Merab," he said as reported by Berita Harian.

Ghazali said that the Hulu Langat district includes Laman Gahal, Batu 14, and Gombak (Jalan Ayer Panas).

He said that currently the water levels of the Klang River and Langat River are high. Meanwhile, in Kampung Meru, Kapar, Klang, 26 victims have been placed in the Temporary Evacuation Center (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Binjai following the flash floods.
