Five Nabawan, Sook villages flooded on polling day

KENINGAU: Five villages in the Nabawan and Sook areas were hit by floods ahead of the 15th General Election early Saturday (Nov 19).

The villages involved in the Nabawan district were Kampung Magulasing and Kampung Lima while in the Sook Sub-District, Kampung Tiulon, Kampung Rancangan Belia Tiulon and Kampung Kusinar.

Sook Fire and Rescue Station received alerts from 2.24am on the Nabawan floods and from 2.31am on the Sook incidents.

Six Fire and Rescue members rushed to the Nabawan floods some 34km away with the help of five members of the Nabawan Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Meanwhile, seven rescuers were deployed to the Sook floods some 13km away.

The Fire and Rescue personnel only carried out monitoring operations in the involved areas and so far, no temporary evacuation centres have been opened.
