Charli xcx is having quite “the moment” right now, isn’t she? The Brat singer seems unstoppable lately — and her next big move? Her upcoming mockumentary feature film, titled The Moment.
The British singer-songwriter has successfully cemented her place in pop culture with her boundary-pushing music. When the Grammy-winning singer isn’t in the studio making party anthems, she is sharing the stage with some of the industry’s biggest names. And when she isn’t doing either of the two? That’s when she’s busy launching ventures like Studio365, her own production company, which has The Moment as its very first project.
Co-produced by 2AM’s David Hinojosa and backed by A24, The Moment is directed by Aidan Zamiri, the creative genius behind Charli’s hit music videos such as “360” and “Guess”, the song featuring Billie Eilish. The film is co-written by Bertie Brandes and Zamiri.
But the question remains, what makes The Moment so special? What sets it apart from the countless tour documentaries and concert films we have already seen? Keep scrolling, as we give you five reasons why this film should be on your radar.
Here’s why you should be excited for Charli xcx’s mockumentary, The Moment
1. It sets the stage for a lot of meta commentary
The Moment chronicles the fictitious journey of a rising pop star as she grapples with fame and the unforgiving industry while preparing for her first-ever arena tour. And who is taking on the role of this pop star? None other than Charli herself.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Charli xcx called The Moment a “2024 period piece.” She shared that it is not a tour documentary but rather a real depiction of the music industry from an insider’s perspective. In this film, Charli wants to offer her fans a glimpse into some unique experiences of an acclaimed singer — and she wants to do that by creating a self-referential world. So yes, the film is fiction, but at the same time, it is also very real.
2. It features a dream cast for any pop culture fan
Charli xcx is obviously the highlighted star of the mockumentary, The Moment.
According to Deadline, the cast also features Kylie Jenner, the youngest and the second richest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, actor and comedian Rachel Sennott, and Kate Berlant, who starred in season 2 of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This (2024-).
It’s not every day that you get to see Jenner and Berlant together, so that’s definitely something we are looking forward to.
Other cast members include Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Trew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Rish Shah, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè and Shygirl.
Oh, and if you are a fan of the Brat album, we have news for you. A. G. Cook, the producer of Brat, is in the cast as well and will compose the original score for The Moment.
3. It builds anticipation for her next musical project
Charli recently posted a short clip on X (formerly Twitter), and the five-second video was enough to send fans into a frenzy. In the cryptic clip, Charli seemed to tease potential new music from a recording studio.

We don’t know about the singer, but we are ready to enter our post-Brat era. So, will Charli xcx use her upcoming mockumentary, The Moment, to give us a sneak peek into what’s coming next?
4. Charli may finally address her rumoured feud with Taylor Swift
Charli has maintained her silence over her feud with Taylor Swift for a while now, but will this film finally change that?
When fans first listened to “Actually Romantic”, the seventh track from Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, they were quick to catch the cutting dig at Charli. For many, this song seemed to be a clap back at Charli’s “Sympathy Is a Knife”, the third track from her hit 2024 album Brat, where she sings about feeling insecure and self-critical around another woman. Soon after its release, fans began speculating whether Charli was referring to Swift and her widely discussed relationship with her ex Matty Healy, the frontman of The 1975.
And Swift only added fuel to the fire when she released “Actually Romantic”, which fans believe is a diss track for Charli. The song is scathing in its approach and takes digs at someone who is apparently a connection between Swift and her ex.
For those wondering about the “connection”, here’s the deal: Charli is married to George Daniel, the drummer of The 1975.
Well, you know what they say – it’s a small world.
5. The Moment marks another step in Charli’s growing acting career
Charli was recently seen alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Evans in Sacrifice, an action-comedy film that premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Some of her other upcoming projects include I Want Your Sex, an erotic thriller co-starring Don’t Worry Darling (2022) director Olivia Wilde, and The Gallerist, a dark comedy co-starring Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman.
Previously, she has lent her voice in animated movies like 2016’s The Angry Birds Movie and 2019’s UglyDolls.
