Five telecommunications companies are offering eligible Malaysian prepaid and postpaid users free mobile data as part of this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.

The initiative, announced by Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, involves five telecommunications providers: CelcomDigi, Maxis, Telekom Malaysia (TM), U Mobile and YES.

You’ll receive 5GB on 31 August for National Day, followed by another 5GB on 16 September for Malaysia Day without having to pay for an additional data plan.

How To Get The Free Data

The exact redemption method and validity period for the free data have not been announced yet.

Fahmi said the participating telecommunications companies will provide more details on how and when the free data can be redeemed, subject to their respective terms and conditions.

Until then, avoid clicking on links or messages claiming to let you redeem the free data early. Wait for the participating telcos to announce the redemption process through their official channels.

The initiative was announced during a ceremony marking the government’s strategic partnership with telecommunications companies for the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. The five telcos collectively contributed RM2.33 million to the programme.

The government hopes the initiative will strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors while giving Malaysians an additional benefit during this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
