
KOTA KINABALU: Flash floods struck several low-lying areas in Penampang following heavy rainfall that began at about 12.40pm on Sunday.
The continuous downpour has caused water levels to rise rapidly, inundating streets and homes in affected areas.
Several photos and videos were shared by netizens on social media, alerting others to the flood situation in their respective areas, which included Sugud, Kolopis, Kasigui, Siga Roundabout, Maang and Koimadang.
The Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in Sabah’s interiors, West Coast, Sandakan (Tongod and Beluran) and Kudat, which is expected to last until 7pm.
