
KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 2,984 flood victims in six states are still seeking shelter at 28 flood relief centres as of this morning.
In Selangor, according to the InfoBencana website, the number of flood victims surged again to 163 people, involving 46 families this morning, from 126 people from 36 families last night.
Three centres are still in operation, namely SK Sg Sireh, SMK Jeram, and SJKC Yuk Chih Batang Berjuntai.
In Melaka, 66 people from 21 families are in relief centres as at 8am today from 51 people (16 families) at 8pm yesterday.
The secretariat for the Melaka Disaster Management Committee said that the centre at the office of the Kesidang Development and Coordination Committee (Japerun) housed nine victims, involving three families from Melaka Tengah.
The centre at Balai Raya Kg Gadek houses 12 victims from six families, while the centre at Dewan Japerun Durian Tunggal accommodates 45 people from 12 families.
In Kelantan, the InfoBencana portal reported that the number of flood victims as of 9am today remained at 2,124 people from 713 families since last night, and they are in eight centres in the Pasir Mas district.
Meanwhile, according to Public InfoBanjir, the reading at Sg Golok in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, exceeded the danger level at 9.13m, subsiding from 9.34m last night.
In Kedah, a total of 61 people from the districts of Kulim and Baling have been evacuated to two centres following two hours of continuous heavy rain last night.
Kulim Civil Defence officer Amirul Aliff Ahmaf said 42 victims from 11 families were evacuated to the centre at Masjid Sg Seluang, while 19 others, involving seven families, were evacuated to Surau Ittifaqih in Baling, which was opened at 7.30pm yesterday.
Meanwhile, Public InfoBanjir stated that Sg Padang Terap in Kg Kubu, Padang Terap recorded a water level of 13.14metre, which is above the danger level (13.02m) and is rising as at 8am today.
In Johor, four districts are still hit by flash floods, namely Tangkak, Kluang, Segamat and Pontian, with 335 evacuees recorded as of 8am today, up from 318 people last night.
According to the District Disaster Management Committee, all the flood victims, who are from 85 families, were evacuated to six centres.
The weather in some of the districts, including Muar, Johor Baru, and Kluang, was reported to be cloudy.
In Perak, 235 flood victims are still in six centres in the state, with two more centres opened in Perak Tengah due to floods caused by the overflowing of water from Sg Perak.
The two centres are at Surau Nurul Jannah Kampung Parit Enam Layang-Layang Kiri and at SK Simpang Tiga, Parit. – Bernama, November 15, 2022
