
KOTA KINABALU: A family of five, including three children, were reportedly trapped in their homes in Kampung Jawa, Mile 12 here, around 2am on Saturday due to flash floods caused by heavy overnight rain.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Severinus Sainkui said that following a report received at 2.24am, firefighters temporarily relocated the victims to nearby relatives' homes.
AdvertisementHe added that monitoring efforts around the flood-affected areas revealed that water levels were receding, and the operation has since been concluded with ongoing surveillance in place.
Meanwhile, Sandakan Civil Defence Force (APM) Officer Sulaiman Salama reported that heavy rain had caused flooding in several roads and villages, including Kampung Sandak, where water reached ankle level, rendering small vehicles impassable.
