FLEET Management Limited Fleet has introduced Pulse, a mobile application that gives seafarers a single digital platform for health support, operational updates and career management as global shipping routes face growing geopolitical uncertainty.
The app arrives as the maritime industry calls for stronger protection for civilian crews amid increasingly volatile waterways, a growing mental health crisis and rising demand for connectivity.
Designed for Fleet Management’s more than 27,000 seafarers worldwide, Pulse consolidates services that were previously spread across separate systems, giving crew members a single place to access essential information and support whether onboard or ashore.
“Recognition has to translate into action every day,” said Angad Banga, chief executive officer of The Caravel Group and executive director of Fleet Management.
“That means understanding the pressures our seafarers operate under, and responding with consistent, practical support. At Fleet, this shows up in the decisions we make, and the systems we build to support our crews.”
The app provides round-the-clock access to confidential physical and mental health services, including Fleet Care wellness resources. It also serves as a secure repository for contracts, training certificates and onboarding documents, reducing paperwork and simplifying deployment before joining a vessel.
Operationally, Pulse delivers real-time notifications on vessel updates assignments, route changes and company advisories, helping crews stay informed as sailing conditions evolve. It also enables seafarers to monitor their sea service, career milestones and professional achievements while maintaining communication with colleagues and company management.
Uptake has outpaced expectations. Fleet Management had set an initial target of 1,000 downloads for the app’s launch; within the first week, more than 7,000 seafarers had downloaded Pulse.
The digital platform forms part of Fleet Management’s broader technology strategy to improve crew welfare and operational resilience as commercial shipping encounters heightened security risks. The company estimates that about 20,000 civilian seafarers, including approximately 600 under its management, have transited high-risk areas since February, with many experiencing extended delays while vessels remained at anchor.
Beyond the app, Fleet Management limited said it continuously monitors global security developments using a vessel-specific risk assessment framework supported by 24-hour shore-based operations, comprehensive health insurance coverage and family assistance programs across major crewing centers.
Fleet Management Limited, part of The Caravel Group, is among the world’s largest independent ship management companies, overseeing more than 600 vessels, including bulk carriers, container ships and tankers.
