NABAWAN: The Nabawan District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) has declared a flood disaster in the district, effective from 5:30am today (Friday).

Nabawan District Officer Ts Marshal Anthony @ Idham issued the declaration based on field reports from JPBD agencies.

As of 10:30am, four schools have been closed due to the floods—SK Kampung Enam, SK Kampung Bahagia, SK Pekan Nabawan, and SMK Nabawan, according to the District Education Officer. Schools are currently preparing a full report on the situation.

A Daily Express survey found several villages affected, including Kampung Bahagia, Kampung Kalas, Kampung Murni, Kampung Lima, Kampung Loboh, Kampung Enam, and Kampung Salarom Baru.

Detailed reports from JPBD are still pending. Due to the floods, two main bridges leading into Nabawan town have been impassable to vehicles since early morning.
