NADMA urges flood victims to register with JKM via MyIBJKM app to receive RM1,000 Bantuan Wang Ihsan through bank transfer or cash payments.
KANGAR: The National Disaster Management Agency has urged all flood victims nationwide to register with the Social Welfare Department via the MyIBJKM application for immediate RM1,000 assistance.
NADMA director-general Meor Ismail Meor Akim explained that official registration at temporary relief centres is mandatory before the Bantuan Wang Ihsan can be disbursed to household heads.
“This assistance is provided to all flood-affected individuals, even if they have not relocated to a PPS,” he told reporters after visiting the relief centre at Dewan 2020.
Meor Ismail strongly encouraged victims to register using the QR code provided by JKM officers at relief centres for easier verification through the department’s system.
Payments will be processed through electronic fund transfers for recipients who have updated their bank details in MyIBJKM.
Those without bank accounts can collect cash payments at Bank Simpanan Nasional branches.
“BSN will send an SMS notification to eligible recipients regarding the payment method for the aid,” he added.
He advised evacuees with technical issues or confusion to approach JKM officers at the relief centres for assistance.
Meor Ismail also recommended that families with young children, elderly relatives, or vulnerable members relocate to relief centres for safety.
He emphasized the importance of closely supervising children while at the temporary shelters.
Regarding the Perlis flood situation, Meor Ismail said conditions remain under control despite continuous rainfall.
“Perlis experienced major flooding in 2010, and this episode is also significant,” he noted.
He confirmed that all agencies are well-prepared and coordinating smoothly in response operations.
“We pray that conditions normalise and the number of affected individuals continues to decrease,” he added. – Bernama
