Continuous heavy rain has caused flooding in three Sabah districts, with a separate flash flood reported in Sandakan, prompting emergency responses.

KOTA KINABALU: Continuous heavy rain since yesterday has caused flooding in the districts of Kota Marudu, Pitas and Paitan this morning.

The Sabah State Disaster Management Secretariat was notified of the situation by the respective District Officers at 6 am.

In a separate incident, a flash flood occurred in Taman Merpati Batu 7, Sandakan, early today.

The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 4.52 am and dispatched a team to the scene about 10 kilometres away.

Firefighters found the flood to be under control upon arrival and no evacuation was necessary.

The department advised residents to move to safer areas if water levels rise.
