SIPITANG: Twenty vehicles coming from Kampung Long Pasia were stranded and had to wait for nearly six hours to cross the wooden bridge over Sungai Laviron near the former SFI nursery site in Kampung Mendulong due to heavy rain on Tuesday.

According to Luis L. (in his 60s) from Kg Ulu Bole, they were stranded while heading to Sipitang town to sell their agricultural products at the weekly market.

He said that the route, especially the wooden bridge, was already submerged in water by 4pm when they arrived at the location, and the water only receded around 8.40pm on the same day.

“Before we could pass through, we worked together to fill the eroded parts with stones using the light from our car headlamps,” Luis said.
