THE Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations in Kedah have been disrupted by widespread flooding, affecting 454 candidates across 13 schools in the state.
According to a statement from the Kedah State Education Department (JPN), as of 10 pm last night, no additional examination centres have been closed and no further transfers of students were carried out.
The statement confirmed that 290 candidates have been relocated to alternative examination centres. Among these, 163 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Jitra were moved to SMK Bandar Baru Darulaman, while 151 candidates from SMK Seri Gunong and Sekolah Menengah Agama Darussaadah were transferred to SMK Agama Kedah.
“Additionally, several students have been temporarily accommodated in nearby school hostels due to their homes being affected by flooding,” the department added.
Students impacted include 21 from SMK Alor Merah placed in the hostel at SMK Tunku Abdul Malik, two from SMK Convent at SMK Sultanah Asma, three from SMK Kepala Batas at SMK Dato Syed Omar, and 14 from SMK Tanjung Pauh at SMK Pulau Nyior.
The department emphasised that the total number of students taking exams at alternative centres remains at 290, while the overall number of candidates affected by flooding remains unchanged at 454, consistent with figures reported on the previous day.
Education authorities continue to monitor conditions closely to ensure that all affected students can complete their examinations with minimal disruption. - November 28, 2025
