Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Umno Chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin wants the Women and Youth movements as well as all Umno divisions in Sabah to focus on preparing for the 15th General Election (GE15).
He said preparations to face the election should be given priority.
“Our approach and way of working is to win…logistics and machineries have been established and we are just waiting for the call for GE,” he told a Sabah Umno divisional conference, recently.
According to Bung, the meeting’s focus was on forming a strong and cohesive unit to face GE15.
“The machineries should have been launched by now. GE15 is getting closer. Defend the party and the leadership from being attacked by the opposition,” said the Umno Supreme Council member.
Bung said these roles and responsibilities need to be shouldered together so that Umno grassroots members do not get confused and fall into the opposition’s trap who sow slanders and accusations against the party.
“Umno branch and grassroots leaders cannot just expect central leaders and division heads to give explanations. Instead they need to be proactive to ensure that the party’s dignity is not further tarnished, the strength of the party at the grassroots cannot be taken for granted and compromised, what if members are still confused and lose confidence against the party?” he said
“Don’t get too busy promoting ourselves with the programmes that are held and get busy defending. We need to attack them because the opposition does a lot of mistakes. But we don’t take the opportunity to attack and make it look like they are clean,” he said.
