
Ahead of World Hypertension Day, cardiologists at Fortis Escorts Hospital here have urged people to monitor their blood pressure regularly, warning that hypertension continues to be one of the leading causes of heart disease, stroke and sudden cardiac arrest.
Doctors described hypertension as a silent killer because it often develops without noticeable symptoms while gradually damaging the heart and blood vessels. According to experts, nearly one in three adults in India is affected by high blood pressure, though many remain unaware of their condition.
