PAPAR: A 32-year-old food delivery rider succumbed to serious injuries on the spot after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle at Km 44, Jalan Kimanis-Keningau, here, Monday.
District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the 7am incident along a hilly stretch involved a Nissan Navara which was heading towards Keningau from Kota Kinabalu.
“At that time, the victim attempted to overtake another vehicle while going downhill and entered the opposite lane.
“Due to the distance, the driver had little time to avoid and could only hit the brakes. However, the motorcycle crashed into the front of the four-wheel-drive,” he said.
Kamaruddin said the victim suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers from Papar Hospital before he was brought to the hospital’s Forensic Unit for post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
