Food poisoning cases at private college rise to 427

THE number of food poisoning cases linked to a private college here has surged to 427 as of 4 pm today, up from 343 reported yesterday.

Kelantan State Exco for Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment, Hilmi Abdullah, said three victims are currently receiving hospital treatment, with two admitted to Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II) and one at Hospital Tumpat.

“A total of 131 cases have been treated as outpatients, while the remainder are exhibiting mild symptoms monitored by health personnel,” he told Harian Metro.

He added that the District Health Office had collected samples of the suspected food, as well as samples from patients, kitchen supplies, and water for further investigation.

“Statements from students and the catering service have also been recorded to assist with the inquiry,” Hilmi said. - July 10, 2025
