As part of the ongoing campaign to ensure food quality in the district, the Food Safety Team conducted an awareness drive in the village of Datarpur, Talwara, focusing on maintaining the quality of fruits and vegetables during the summer season.

District Health Officer Dr Jatinder Bhatia issued strict instructions that no overripe, rotten, or cut fruits and vegetables should be sold. He emphasised that fruits and vegetables must be naturally ripened without the use of chemicals to protect public health. The team also inspected the fruits and vegetables being sold by street vendors and shopkeepers at the site.

The public was advised not to purchase overripe, rotten, or cut fruits and vegetables during the summer. Any substandard or spoiled produce found at the location was destroyed on the spot.

Dr Bhatia, along with Food Safety Officer Munish Sodhi, directed all food business operators (FBOs) to comply with mandatory registration and licensing under FSSAI. Vendors were instructed to maintain proper hygiene and adhere to the standards set under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Dr Bhatia also appealed to the public to immediately report any doubts regarding food quality to the Health Department or food safety officers. The department will continue to carry out regular inspections to ensure safe and high-quality food for consumers.
