The most important thing when you want to travel overseas for tourism or business is your passport.
With country borders opening up, many people are travelling out of Malaysia, meaning that many are renewing their passports or making passports.
Recently, a Malaysian politician, Dr Nurul Ashikin of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air shared her struggle to get a passport for her child.
In her tweet, she says, “the immigration office opens at 8am but by 6 plus, there are already so many people who are queuing up and waiting for numbers.”
“It’s been 2 consecutive days since I went and came back empty handed,” she continued.

In addition to that she also said that there are no appointments to make or renew children’s passports online which prompted her to say this, “It’s already 2023 but it is still backwards.”

Many people who missed the point criticised her for not getting an appointment online, she replied to them saying that she was unable to do so for the children’s passport.
“Make an appointment and you won’t have to queue at 6am,” to which the politician replies, “we can’t make appointments for children’s passports. I asked 2 immigration offices already.”
Many other netizens have shared their frustration and similar experiences as well.
However, it seems that the complaints have reached the ears of the government and several immigration offices will be working 7 days a week.
This is certainly for the best. We hope that this will mean that passport issuance will be more efficient.
