In 1987, my wife, Hajah Zarina and I accompanied her late mother, Allahyarhamah Hajah Aishah Abu Taif and her two siblings: Haji Abdul Aziz & Haji Abdul Manaf Ishak for the significance of Muslim obligation to perform the pilgrimage - the umrah & the Hajj in the holy land. In the year 2002, my wife and I brought all our four children: Hajah Izni Fauzan, Haji Muhammad Farouq, Hajah Izni Farzana & Haji Muhammad Fariz to perform their pilgrimage.

What has the experience of Hajj taught us? First one must ask - what does Hajj mean? In essence, Hajj is man's evolution toward Allah. It is a symbolic demonstration of the philosophy of the creation of Adam. To further illustrate this, it may be stated that the performance of Hajj is a simultaneous show of many things; it is a “show of creation”, a “show of history”, a “show of unity”, a “show of Islamic ideology” and a show of the Ummah (global community). Such conditions prevail in this “show”. Allah (God) is the stage manager. The theme portrayed is the actions of the people involved in Islamic traditions.

Every year the minority who were able to participate in the Hajj will share their views with the majority who did not have the opportunity. According to the United Nations, there are approximately 2 billion to 2.1 billion Muslims in the world, making Islam the second largest religion globally & fastest growing major religious group. Muslims comprise roughly 24% to 25% of the total global population. The vast majority of Muslims live in the Asia-Pacific region.

In performing pilgrimage, Muslims could learn the purpose of the Hajj, the meaning of the prophecy, importance of unity and the fate of the Muslim nation. They could return to their countries and their individual lives to teach their community. His Hajj could remain a guide like a glittering beam in the darkness.
