A lot of the ordinary people do sympathise with the family of the late Teoh Beng Hock.
The loss of a life, especially at such a young age in unexplained circumstances demands accountability from those who were involved.
Don’t expect politicians from DAP and other parties to heed your call for them to resign.
Your present mode of highlighting this issue would not frighten any of them into action.
Do not be surprised political fatigue has set in on this issue amongst ordinary Malaysians let alone those politicians who rode on this issue when they were in the opposition ranks then.
Politicians from both sides of the divide often face limited consequences for misstating the truth.
There is even a joke that states that politicians lie the moment they open their mouth.
Hit home where it hurt these politicians the most.
The FEAR of being rejected and not voted in again by the voters in their constituencies in the next election.
What all these politicians are most worried about are the voters who voted for them in their respective constituencies rejecting them in the next and 16th General Election required to be held no later than 2027.
Malaysians are now living through a unique moment in our nation's history where for the past 5 years, daily headlines have added to the intense feelings that many youths now feel around politicians, especially about what their future might hold.
News about politicians and misinformation and disinformation shared by those trying to sway voters can cause distress no matter what someone's party affiliation are.
Even those who have no political affiliation may experience second-hand stress from the constant exposure to political turmoil and arguments between individuals or groups.
And the 24/7 news and social media cycles don't help, making the entire matter seem impossible to avoid.
They listen to radio commentary on their way to and from work.
Their social feeds have news about politicians and politically outspoken people.
If TBHADA wants results, instead of continuing in your current trajectory in highlighting this issue maybe they should revise their plans where they,
- Plan, organise and put into motion an actionable and sustainable campaign to make these politicians you call for to resign, answer for the false promises they have made.
- As not many youths know about TBH and his untimely death, reframed it as an educational opportunity where youths might be piqued and ready to listen and know more about this issue from an educational standpoint.
- The content should be balanced and fact based.
- Include in the content, the promises made by each of these representatives, be it Members of Parliament or State Assemblymen in the 15th General election and the status of each of these promises whether it was fulfilled or remains unfulfilled todate.
- Target the entire population in each of the constituencies whose representatives, be it Members of Parliament or state assemblymen, who used to be vocal and rode on the TBH issue.
- Use the social media and news platforms which does not costs much to sustain, keep the interests on TBH within the population in each of the constituencies whose representatives be it Members of Parliament or state assemblymen who used to be vocal and rode on the TBH issue.
- Be proactive and engage in educating or sharing thoughts solely on this issue with all the people in each of these constituencies.
- If the voters regularly receive information about the broken and unfulfilled promises of the Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen that they voted for in the previous election, there is a high likelihood that it will influence their votes come the next election.
- A sustainable period of dissemination will result and increase in the formation of a negativity bias in the voters on the Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen they voted previously.
- Be mindful and never assumed that everyone within the constituencies will support and listen. Probably they are experiencing fatigue on this issue.
This issue on TBH is not a hopeless problem, though it is easy to feel this way given what the family experienced from the start until todate.
The verdict of the people is everything and going back to the voters will hopefully provide the answer that the family of TBH demanded.
