Celebrating 60 Years of the Ford Mustang: The 2024 Mustang 60th Anniversary Edition

The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic and enduring automotive nameplates of all time. Even in Malaysia it has loads of fans and owners as it was introduced for a short time in its 2.3L and 5.0L V8 guise in the 6th generation. Now, 60 years and seven generations after its debut at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, Ford is commemorating the Mustang’s incredible legacy with a limited-edition 60th Anniversary model.

Only 1,965 examples of the 60th Anniversary Edition will be built – a nod to the Mustang’s first model year. The special package is available on the Mustang GT Premium with the 5.0L V8 engine, in both coupe and convertible body styles with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions.

Exterior Design Inspired by the 1965 Mustang

The 2024 Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Edition’s design was “directly inspired by the clean silhouette of the original car,” according to senior designer Stefan Taylor. Ford’s design team closely studied the finely detailed elements of the 1965 Mustang, like the fender badges and wheel center caps, to capture the feel of the classic pony car while updating it for the modern era.

Key exterior features of the 60th Anniversary Edition include:

• Exclusive 60th Anniversary badges on the fenders and trunk lid, with a modern take on the 1965 Mustang cloisonné badges
• Unique 20-inch wheels finished in Dark Gravity Gray with bright machined details and a Vermillion Red, retro-themed stamped aluminum center cap inspired by the ’65 Mustang
• Exclusive side graphics available in Iconic Silver or Vermillion Red, reminiscent of the original Mustang’s rocker panel stripes
• New grille with a unique mesh design as a callback to the 1964 original, updated with silver-accented nostrils that function as air intakes for the 5.0L V8
• Smoked housing for the standard Mustang Nite Pony headlights, making the silver-accented nostrils stand out
• Available in classic Wimbledon White, modern Race Red and Vapor Blue colors
• Iconic Silver mirror caps on Race Red and Vapor Blue cars, with body-color caps on Wimbledon White models

Retro-Inspired Interior Touches

The interior of the 2024 Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Edition also pays homage to the original pony car, with touches like a serialized 60th Anniversary instrument panel badge. Buyers can choose from three interior color schemes: Space Gray, Carmine Red or Black Onyx.

Limited Production, Available in Late 2024

The 2024 Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Edition is a true collector’s item, with production limited to just 1,965 units. Customers will be able to order the special edition model in the summer of 2024, with deliveries to U.S. Ford dealers expected in the fourth quarter of that year.
